Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Objectives 2024-25

Our college has always been a diverse and inclusive community – it’s one of our greatest strengths.

We will challenge stereotypes and promote equality of opportunity across the Connell community.

We will ensure that Connell provides an inclusive, welcoming and vibrant culture so that all students and staff feel valued, respected and engaged

We will promote EDI through our CORE and academic curricula so that students have an opportunity to discuss and discuss their views in a supportive environment.

During 2024/25 we will work to:

  • Ensure that all students with English as an additional language (multilingual/plurilingual students) feel safe to use their mother tongue in the college (measured through student survey).
  • Increase the number of ethnic minority parent/carers working with the college beyond parents evenings over the next academic year 2024/25 (measured through college event logs and parent/carer surveys).
  • Increase staff confidence in effectively challenging any racist behaviour/comments they see/hear by providing (measured through staff survey).
  • Increase the number of professional learning opportunities undertaken by all staff on race equality through both direct training and opportunities to share their experiences. We will work to improve their racial literacy (through training) and confidence in this important area (We will track staff confidence and measure the improvement through surveys).
